iCulture, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, and the Institutions of Chinart are pleased to present PURE VIEWS: New Paintings from China “溪山清远－中国新绘画", a collaborative installation that will feature more than thirty works of art by twenty-five of the most renowned contemporary and emerging Chinese painters from April 19 - April 21, 2011 at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. The special installation will be marked with a reception on April 21, 2011.

PURE VIEWS “溪山清远” takes its name from a work of art by Song Dynasty (960-1297) painter Xia Gui (1195-1224).  Practices and techniques from this diverse group of living Chinese painters are exposed as the artists reflect and respond to their shared artistic heritage in the context of an ever-changing global environment.

Curated by Lu Peng and Bai Hua, the exhibition will feature some of the most renowned names in contemporary Chinese art, including Fang Lijun, Shang Yang, Ye Yongqing, Yue Minjun, Wang Guangyi,  Zhang Xiaogang, and Zhou Chunya.
